This website has been funded by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania Citizen Education Fund under a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for Drinking Water Source Water Protection administered by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
This map shows water supply systems in Columbia and Montour counties. The red dots represent those without source water protection plans; the yellow dots show those with a plan in progress; the light blue are those who are participating in source water protection events and activities; and the dark blue are those with active source water protection plans in place.
In areas surrounding the dark blue dots, you can see shaded areas. These are protection zones that have been drawn, representing land area crucial to protecting that water supply. Water suppliers use groundwater or surface water, or both, for their supplies. When a new source water protection plan is created, a new zone will appear on the map showing the land area important for its supply.
